Night of the Arts 2017
Night of the Arts is May 25 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at Temple Beth Am (300 Pleasant Street). Our families who are completing their first year at Summit are about to experience a treasured Summit tradition. Night of the Arts is the culmination of our elementary students’ work in music, studio art, and cultural studies through the production and presentation of a play for the entire school community. While this is primarily an elementary presentation, our Kindergarten students also learn a song, rehearse and look forward to performing it for us. This year the play is The Tale of the Chinese Zodiac and it dovetails with the students’ study of Asia.
Elementary students have created scenery, props and costumes in Studio Art, worked on the music and dance portions of the play in Music class and beyond and are polishing lines and blocking now.
We invite everyone to join us for this special night! Even if your child is not performing, it is a wonderful opportunity to see what is to come for them, and your support will be appreciated by our elementary performers. The play lasts about an hour from start to finish. Younger children are expected to sit with their parents throughout the performance. We know that you will use your best judgment as to whether or not this is a reasonable amount of time for your child to sit. Treats will be served following the performance. We look forward to welcoming you to Night of the Arts!
