Director of Finance and Operations (Opportunity Available as 7/1/21)

Summit Montessori School, a Beginner to Grade 6 single-campus, independent school in Framingham, Massachusetts seeks a Director of Finance and Operations starting on or before July 1, 2021.

Introduction

The Director of Finance and Operations (DOF) is the financial and operational leader of the Summit Montessori Community. The DOF is responsible for all aspects of operations and finance at the school. Reporting to the Head of School, and working with appropriate trustee committees, the Director of Finance and Operations manages the resources of Summit Montessori School in support of the mission of the school. The Director of Finance and Operations is a member of the Administrative Leadership Team.

Characteristics of the Ideal Candidate

The Director of Finance and Operations must be able to work independently, be well organized and flexible, having strong, positive communication skills, the ability to delegate effectively, and must lead by example with a positive attitude.  We expect the Director of Finance and Operations to be involved and active in life of the community.

Qualifications

The Director of Finance and Operations must minimally hold a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business or Accounting. A Master’s Degree in Business Administration and/or a CPA is strongly preferred. A minimum of five years experience in the field, preferably in an independent school setting, is required. Continued professional development in the form of conferences, webinars, and networking is expected.

Assistant After School Teacher (Part Time)

Summit Montessori School seeks an energetic and creative individual to support our experienced lead teachers in our After School program.  Duties include, but are not limited to, supervising children, facilitating indoor and outdoor activities, setting ground rules and limits, supporting children in conflict resolution, and maintaining a respectful and positive atmosphere in the After School Program.

The ideal candidate will be able to work successfully and collaboratively in a team approach, and will bring a sense of joy and humor to work each day! Applicants should have a child-centered and holistic philosophy of education and should love working with young children.

Applicant should be a mature and responsible individual with a minimum of a high school degree. Experience and training in working with young children are desirable.  Pay is competitive.

Substitute teachers

The ideal applicant will be flexible, a good communicator, professional in demeanor, and have experience working in child-centered educational settings.  Substitute teachers at Summit are expected to work supportively and collaboratively in a team approach. Applicants should have a child-centered and holistic philosophy of education and should love working with young and elementary-aged children. EEC certification, particularly on the Toddler level, is ideal.

Applicant should be a mature and responsible individual with a minimum of a high school degree; college is desirable.
