Advancement Assistant

Responsibilities:
The part-time 25 hour/week Advancement Assistant position reports to the Director of Advancement and is responsible for coordinating and managing details regarding Summit Montessori’s development and admissions efforts, including the school’s ongoing capital fund raising campaign. Duties include:

Development and Capital Campaign Fund Raising:

  • Work with the Steering Committee, Campaign Manager, Director of Development, Development Committee, and the Head of School to advance campaign strategies and sub-goals
  • Assist in assuring that campaign communications and cultivation event activity plans are realized
  • Assist in managing logistics for cultivation events
  • Edit campaign communications
  • Follow up and track communication of campaign stewards with prospects on the individual, corporate, and foundation levels
  • Maintain pledge agreement records and track pledge fulfillment
  • Maintain development database records and generate reports

Admissions:

  • Assist in managing logistics for admissions visits
  • Provide prospective families with building tours
  • Maintain admissions database records and generate reports
  • Draft and edit admissions/marketing communications
  • Track admissions funnel progression

Characteristics of the Ideal Candidate:

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and at least 2-5 years administrative or related experience, including a track record in managing events, database maintenance, and communications. Specific independent school experience is preferred but not required. The candidate will be computer proficient and willing to operate in a “hands-on” environment. They will have a strong commitment to the mission, vision, values, and programs of the organization, and the ability to effectively convey that information. They will be a strong team player, with excellent organizational, relationship-building, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple demands in a rapidly changing environment. Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends, as needed for special events.

 Spanish Teacher (Part Time)

Summit Montessori School seeks a highly qualified and energetic individual to coordinate our Spanish program and to offer small group Spanish lessons to children from ages 3 to 12.  This individual must be a fluent Spanish and English speaker with experience working with 3- to 12-year-olds. They must be well organized and be ready to prepare age-appropriate and experiential Spanish lessons for each group.  The individual must have strong interpersonal skills, be interested in working in a highly collaborative environment, and bring specialized knowledge and insight to our team as we strive to engage a range of eager language learners in the exciting prospect of exploring a new language.

The Spanish Teacher’s main responsibilities are to:

  • Plan appropriate and interactive lessons for groups of Preschoolers through Upper Elementary students on a weekly basis
  • Administer these lessons with appropriate engagement, enthusiasm, and using  age-appropriate classroom management skills.
  • Coordinate the Summit Spanish program, ensuring that goals for each age are appropriate, that curriculum is documented, and that individual students are appropriately assessed.

School Librarian (Part Time)

 

Summit Montessori School seeks a part time Librarian to develop and lead our Library program for children ages 2 through 12. The ideal candidate will be an energetic individual with experience coordinating school library services, including conducting story hours for younger students, coordinating a school-wide book lending program, and serving as a resource for older students’ research.  Duties will include overall library organization including cataloging books and systematically updating book selections. The ideal candidate will have experience working with the entire age range of enrolled children and will understand the importance of integrating age-appropriate literature into the learning lives of children.

Candidates must hold the minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and will ideally have a degree in Library Science.   This part time position offers competitive pay and the opportunity for professional development.

Elementary Music Teacher (Part Time)

Summit Montessori School seeks an experienced Music Teacher to lead music classes for students from ages 6 through 12 and to further develop our school music program. The ideal candidate will be an energetic individual with experience leading choral activities, developing children’s musical presentations including work with musical instruments, and who understands the importance of integrating music into the learning lives of children.  S/he will have experience in successfully guiding children of ages 6 through 12 to deepen their music expression and musicality.    

Candidates must hold the minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and have experience teaching music to groups of elementary-aged students. Orff-Kodaly training is desirable, but not required. This part time position offers competitive pay and the opportunity for professional development.

Assistant After School Teacher (Part Time)

Summit Montessori School seeks an energetic and creative individual to support our experienced lead teachers in our After School program.  Duties include, but are not limited to, supervising children, facilitating indoor and outdoor activities, setting ground rules and limits, supporting children in conflict resolution, and maintaining a respectful and positive atmosphere in the After School Program.

The ideal candidate will be able to work successfully and collaboratively in a team approach, and will bring a sense of joy and humor to work each day! Applicants should have a child-centered and holistic philosophy of education and should love working with young children.

Applicant should be a mature and responsible individual with a minimum of a high school degree. Experience and training in working with young children are desirable.  Pay is competitive.

Substitute teachers

The ideal applicant will be flexible, a good communicator, professional in demeanor, and have experience working in child-centered educational settings.  Substitute teachers at Summit are expected to work supportively and collaboratively in a team approach. Applicants should have a child-centered and holistic philosophy of education and should love working with young and elementary-aged children. EEC certification, particularly on the Toddler level, is ideal.

Applicant should be a mature and responsible individual with a minimum of a high school degree; college is desirable.
