Summit Welcomes Lumpoon Sungkharom as New CH1 Teacher

Wednesday, July 13, 2016

We are pleased to announce that Lumpoon Sungkharom has been selected and hired to serve as Co-Lead Teacher in Children’s House 1. She will replace Jennifer Matthews who is moving to South Africa with her husband.

Lumpoon earned her Early Childhood Montessori teaching credential from the New England Montessori Teacher Education Center in 2005. She is currently working to complete a Masters degree in Education from Gordon College, with a plan to complete in 2017. Lumpoon worked as a Co-Lead Teacher at Walnut Park Montessori School in Newton, MA for eleven years, and as a Lead Teacher at Wellesley Montessori School for one year.

Lumpoon was enthusiastically recommended by colleagues and supervisors from past situations.  They identified her great strengths as a teacher who “believes fiercely” in Montessori education, is very hard working and skilled as an environmental preparer and classroom manager, and who is very experienced and comfortable working with both parents and adult colleagues. Lumpoon is “very much a team player” who is seen as highly consistent with children and who “exemplifies the Montessori philosophy in all that she says and does”.

Lumpoon’s skill and comfort level in working with parents comes in part through being a Montessori parent herself. Her daughter Lanna, who has completed a 3-year Children’s House cycle at Walnut Park, will begin her journey as a Summit Lower Elementary student this fall.

Prior to Lumpoon’s experience as a Montessori teacher, she worked as a Veterinary Technician at the Thomglor Animal Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand, having graduated from the King Monkut Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (Bangkok) with a degree in Animal Science. She also holds certificates in Biochemistry and ESL from the Harvard Extension School.

Lumpoon is thrilled to join us as part of our Summit community, just as we are thrilled to welcome her as a colleague.   We plan to hold a welcome event in late August so that Children’s House 1 families can meet and get to know her.
