Kindergarten and Elementary Transition Nights at Summit
December 1 is Kindergarten Transition Night and December 8 is both Lower and Upper Elementary Transition Night. Free child care is available both nights - please click here to register.
Why attend? Kindergarten is the culmination of the Montessori Children’s House cycle. This critical year allows the child to truly blossom and reap all the benefits of the work they do in the first and second and sometimes third year of the cycle. Parents will learn about the wonderful leadership roles Kindergartners assume in our Montessori program, which is very different than in a traditional Kindergarten program. Teachers will introduce The Kindergarten curriculum, including Summit’s rich Kindergarten literacy and numeracy programs and respond to questions.
As Children’s House students transition to Lower Elementary and Lower Elementary students to Upper Elementary, they encounter increasing levels of independence and responsibility for themselves and their learning. Parents of students who will transition to these levels are invited to learn about the differences in these classrooms, the curriculum, schedules and traditions. They will also learn about the new developmental stage their children enter and how that impacts the work they do with teachers and classmates.
We look forward to telling you more!
