Inside Summit
Summit Montessori School is dedicated to developing life-long learners from pre-school through grade 6. Located in suburban Framingham, Mass., Summit draws students from several towns in the MetroWest area, including Southborough, Natick, Ashland, Framingham, Wayland, Northborough and Sudbury. We offer children and their families a warm and nurturing educational environment, one that encourages a child's natural curiosity and celebrates his or her accomplishments. Our faculty represents some of the most dedicated, talented educators in New England. Summit selects each teacher based on his or her Montessori training, experience, and fit with the philosophy of the school. We incorporate both modern and traditional teaching methods in our curricula while remaining grounded in the tenets of Maria Montessori.
At Summit, there are three developmental levels of education:
Children's House
Lower Elementary School
Upper Elementary School
The Children's House is the equivalent of preschool and kindergarten and serves children from three to six years of age. There are two classrooms for this age group.
In the Lower Elementary, students who are six to nine years old learn together in one classroom. This is the equivalent of grades 1-3.
The Upper Elementary School is one classroom comprised of children ages nine through 12. This is the equivalent of grades 4-6.
Summit Montessori School graduates are accomplished, poised human beings. They are self-directed and self-motivated, and they leave Summit ready to take on the rigors of the most challenging secondary education. Our graduates go on to both public and private secondary schools, including:
- Beaver Country Day School
- Belmont Hill School
- Buckingham, Browne & Nichols
- Concord Academy
- Dana Hall
- Fay School
- Fessenden School
- Middlesex
- The Rivers School
- St. Sebastian's School
- Winsor School
- Worcester Academy
Our students have also gone on to attend many prestigious undergraduate institutions, including Brown University, Colgate University, Hamilton College, Lafayette College, Middlebury College, Princeton University, Syracuse University and Tufts University.
As a small school, Summit provides an unusually intimate atmosphere; our size allows us to personalize students' education and celebrate their individuality. We work to provide a strong foundation for a life-long love of learning. And we aim to instill confidence in every child, from preschool age all the way through the pre-teen years.
From an academic standpoint, our goal is to ensure that students are receiving a stellar education that prepares them for middle and high school, and ultimately for undergraduate and graduate pursuits. But Summit also believes in developing the child socially and emotionally. We take this responsibility seriously and it shows. Well-rounded, thoughtful, inquisitive: this is a Summit Montessori student.
