Monday Update - October 31

Our first Open House is scheduled for this Saturday, November 5 from 1 to 3 pm.  We ask you to help us tell everyone who might be interested to please join us.  We'll be sending home a letter from Chuck Greene, Chair of Summit's Marketing Committee, about our new Word of Mouth campaign along with three post cards.  Please try to give away all three to friends and neighbors with children age 3-12, and thank you for helping us spread the word!

It has been a busy day here at Summit.  Many of you overcame the obstacles of no lights, heat or water to circumvent the closed roads and heavy traffic and still arrive with your children all ready for Mystery History Day.  It was warm here at Summit and exciting as the students of Lower and Upper El presented their three clues at Monday Morning Meeting to help students, faculty and staff guess which historical figure they were portraying.  After Monday Morning Meeting the students loaded into waiting cars (thank you parent drivers!) to go to Framingham Green where several residents were waiting to see the costumed children, listen to their clues and guess their identity.  They were sharp and guessed correctly in all but one case, Tony Hawke stumped everyone!  Thank you to Mrs. Michelson who had her ever-trusty camera at the ready!

It was back to school for some work and lunch and PE - because there is no school on Friday - and we didn't want the students to miss their time with Mr. Taylor.  Upper El had another celebration to prepare for, and the school smelled of the spicy pumpkin birthday cake they baked for Owen whose birthday falls on Halloween.  Happy Birthday, Owen (today also known as Mozart)..

Thank you to all who came out last week and supported the bookfair!   Thank you also to all the parent volunteers who gave their time to make it such a success.  It was so much fun to see all the children peruse the aisles and pick out new books!

We hope you have all made plans to come to Uno’s for the Summit Doughraiser this Thursday, November 3 !  It is a great evening of fun for all the children to have dinner out with their friends.  Bring your ticket (sent home last week or available by clicking here) and share extras with friends and colleagues.  Don’t forget take-out if you can’t make it for dinner!  See you there!  All sales count - just use your ticket between 11:30 am and midnight

Don’t forget that SMPA has working group meetings every Wednesday after drop off to plan all of our upcoming events.  These fun events do take a lot of work and preparation – if you can spare a few minutes on any Wednesday morning, please drop by.

Thursday is our first Admissions Visiting Day.  Between 9 and 10:30 am parents of prospective children will have the opportunity to meet with Miss Siobhan to learn about Montessori education, to observe classes in session, and to have a post-observation question and answer period.  If you know of families who might be interested, please be sure to tell them about this opportunity..

Friday is Parent/Teacher Conference Day.  There will be no school and child care only during your scheduled conference times.

For an on-going look at classroom activities, we invite you to check out our Blog.
